Most of us are aware of the food pyramid. Foods such as grains, pasta, breads, and rice are in the group at the foundation of the food pyramid and, with 6 to 11 servings daily. They should be made the base for a healthy diet.
Moving higher up the food pyramid you'll find vegetables with 3 to 5 servings and fruit with 2 to 4 servings. A healthful diet will also contain 2 to 3 servings of milk, yogurt, or cheese and also 2 to 3 servings of meat, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, or nuts. Keeping these serving numbers in mind for each grouping can make a healthy diet easier to plan.
