Food Pyramid

Most of us are aware of the food pyramid. Foods such as grains, pasta, breads, and rice are in the group at the foundation of the food pyramid and, with 6 to 11 servings daily. They should be made the base for a healthy diet.

Moving higher up the food pyramid you'll find vegetables with 3 to 5 servings and fruit with 2 to 4 servings. A healthful diet will also contain 2 to 3 servings of milk, yogurt, or cheese and also 2 to 3 servings of meat, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, or nuts. Keeping these serving numbers in mind for each grouping can make a healthy diet easier to plan.
