  • Whole oats, onion, globe and artichokes is general diabetic herbs used to reduce blood sugar.

  • Wheat germ, under ripe bananas, broccolis and cauliflowers are used to control blood sugar levels.

  • Whole grain, pumpkin seeds and nuts are all high in chromium and zinc, which are essential nutrients to control the proper action of insulin.

   Besides the above mentioned diabetic herbs, there are plenty of other herbs and spices that can be used  for diabetic control especially in diabetic cooking to help your foods taste good , unique and reduce the need to add in additional salt.    Most herbs and spices come in fresh or dried forms.  Dried herbs have more intense flavor.   So, when substituting fresh herbs for dried herbs, double or triple the amount of fresh herbs.

  • Beef - bay leaf, chives, garlic, marjoram.

  • Lamb - garlic, marjoram, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage.

  • Pork - cilantro, cumin, ginger, sage, thyme.

  • Poultry - garlic, oregano, rosemary, sage, thyme

  • Seafood - Chervil, dill weed, fennel, tarragon, parsley

  • Pasta - Basil, oregano, fennel, garlic, paprika, parsley, sage

  • Fruits - Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, mint

  • Salad - Basil, chervil, dill weed marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley thyme.  

However, avoid using herbs blend for diabetic recipe or cooking as some of these herb blends contain sodium or salt.  Diabetic herbs and general cooking herbs and spice help to taste great and improve a person 's ability to control diabetic.
